He posted this message overnight after seeing Duong Chhay post a message urging everyone to stop using Thai products. “Earlier, I saw that Duong Chhay posted a message whose main content was a call to stop using Thai products. Prime Minister Hun Manet and I have already made repeated appeals: please do not escalate the dispute to the point that it spreads into other sectors and fuels ethnic hatred,” he added. Hun Sen continued that on Saturday, the Thai military unilaterally closed the Poipet border crossing ahead of schedule. Therefore, Thailand must take full responsibility for this action. For Cambodian citizens, it is important to remain mature and composed and refrain from provoking any incidents. “I merely wish to remind both the Cambodian and Thai people that if Thai products are absent from the Cambodian market, it is not because Cambodians have collectively chosen to boycott them. Rather, it is the consequence of a border closure—because when people are blocked, so too are goods.” According to 2024 trade statistics, Cambodia exported more than $1.1 billion worth of goods to Thailand, while Thailand exported over $5.2 billion to Cambodia, meaning Thailand’s exports exceeded Cambodia’s by more than $4.1 billion. In the first five months of this year alone, Cambodia exported over $200 million to Thailand, while Thailand imported over $1.5 billion from Cambodia. Hun Sen emphasised that if imported goods are no longer entering Cambodia, the Thai people should resolve this matter directly with their government, because it is the Thai people themselves who will suffer the most. “As for Cambodian citizens, in the absence of Thai products, please do not blame the Royal Government of Cambodia, as this shortage is a direct result of Thailand’s decision to close the border. I urge all fellow Cambodians to maintain composure, maturity, patience, and politeness — but with firmness — avoiding any action that would allow foreigners to insult our dignity.”

8/6/68 กองทัพแถลงอย่างเป็นทางการ ทหารกัมพูชาได้ยินยอมถอนกำลังกลับไปยังจุดที่เคยประจำการ กลบคูเลตให้กลับคืนสู่สภาพธรรมชาติตามเดิม พลตรี วินธัย สุวารี โฆษกกองทัพบก วันนี้ (8 มิ.ย.68) ฝ่ายกัมพูชา นำโดย พลโท สรัย ดึก รองผู้บัญชาการทหารบก และผู้บัญชาการกองพลสนับสนุนที่ 3 ได้เชิญฝ่ายทหารไทย โดย พลตรี สมภพ ภาระเวช ผู้บัญชาการกองกำลังสุรนารี เข้าร่วมหารือ เพื่อเจรจาเกี่ยวกับกรณีปัญหาการรุกล้ำดินแดนในพื้นที่พิพาทบริเวณช่องบก จากการหารือเบื้องต้น ทั้งสองฝ่ายได้บรรลุข้อตกลงในประเด็นสำคัญ คือ ฝ่ายทหารกัมพูชาได้ยินยอมถอนกำลังกลับไปยังจุดที่เคยประจำการอยู่เดิม ซึ่งอยู่ห่างจากบริเวณที่เกิดเหตุปะทะ หรือแนวต้นพระยาสัตบรรณ ลึกเข้าไปในเขตแดนของประเทศกัมพูชา จุดดังกล่าวเป็นพื้นที่ที่ฝ่ายกัมพูชาเคยใช้เป็นแนววางกำลังฐานมาโดยตลอดในอดีต นอกจากนี้ ฝ่ายกัมพูชายังแสดงความยินยอมที่จะดำเนินการกลบคูเลตให้กลับคืนสู่สภาพธรรมชาติตามเดิม ตามข้อเสนอของฝ่ายไทย เพื่อเป็นการลดความตึงเครียดและสร้างบรรยากาศแห่งความร่วมมือ ภายหลังจากนี้ ทั้งสองฝ่ายเห็นพ้องร่วมกันที่จะใช้ กลไกระดับคณะกรรมการชายแดนส่วนท้องถิ่น เป็นช่องทางในการหารือแนวทางบริหารจัดการพื้นที่อย่างเหมาะสม และยั่งยืนต่อไป
