On Monday, Thai authorities enforced the full closure of the Ban Khlong Luek permanent border checkpoint in Aranyaprathet district, Sa Kaeo province, as part of strict security measures along the Thai-Cambodian border.
Starting from 8 am, the First Army Region barred all cross-border movement of people and vehicles, including tourists, traders, and locals, both Thai and foreign nationals. However, humanitarian exceptions remain in place, allowing students and medical patients to pass through the checkpoint.
In the early hours of the closure, several Thai and Cambodian nationals, as well as some tourists, arrived unaware of the new restriction and waited at the border. Officials informed them of the temporary suspension and advised them to await an official announcement regarding the reopening date.
